STEMcloud. Installation for BIACS3 2008

STEMcloud socio/economic scenario

Our STEMcloud proposal will involve its artificial environment, developing an architectural system capable of introducing a concentrated urban oxygenation as a means to promote human-nature interaction.

STEMcloud provides a structure for the organization and manipulation of local flows of information, matter and energy. Catalytic co-action processes (systemic feedback) are triggered between individual components and with local ecosystems, defining the possible emergence of infrastructures or artificial ecologies.

STEMcloud is part of the ecoMachines series.

Eco-Machinic prototypes differ from both traditional models and industrial design prototypes: on the one hand, they reject a purely representational role, instead their material definition is a form of direct engagement with the surrounding environment. On the other hand, they seek progressive refinement through an open-ended process in which both representations and objectives evolve and differentiate. As technical platforms they allow a greater incorporation of knowledge from fields traditionally alien to architecture such as cybernetics.
